Where Will You Find Happiness Now? (prize winning piece) & Slowly, Slowly (honorable mention)

"Where Will You Find Happiness Now?" won a $1000 Richard Selzer Prize and "Slowly, Slowly" was awarded an honorable mention in 2014. The prize is hosted by Abaton, Des Moines University’s student-produced literary journal focusing on health care, and named in honor of the surgeon, Yale professor, and author. "Selzer’s collections of short stories, surgical memoirs, essays, novels and novellas about the sick and diseased have influenced many individuals to become physicians, and many physicians to share their own experiences through writing."

These pieces were part of a award-winning collection in the University of Michigan's Avery and Jule Hopwood Contest in 2011.

Both pieces were published in Abaton - Issue 8 (2014).
